Recorded live March 17, 2020, no overdubs.
Art by Clutter Goth.
Mastered by Angel Marcloid.
This piece started as a live set I wrote for a show at a spot in 2019. Performed originally on one sampler, the source material sat on a memory card for months without me going through with a final recording. Given recent events (…), I had some more time at home to work on music. The final take presented here is: [sampler -> stereo loop pedal 1 -> stereo loop pedal 2] -> [stereo looper 2 -> stereo loop pedal 1 -> recording]. The process of scrambling and re-scrambling a feed of sound sources from last year into oblivion seemed appropriate right now. The album art by Clutter Goth is a piece called “Apoptosis” (the term for cell death) which was also created in 2019. A certain atmosphere hangs over the music because it was recorded when it was recorded. The title “Anaglyph” refers to a stereoscopic image that becomes “three dimensional” when viewed through those blue and red 3D glasses.
If Frank Zappa made music for The Weather Channel, this is what it would sound like. Or maybe if Casiopea took copious amounts of LSD in the studio. I'm never disappointed when a track from this album comes up on random. So different, but so well done. I seriously cannot pick a favorite off this album, but "Imprinted, Encoded, Shone (Emergence)" really exemplifies what this album is all about. Michael Andrews
